On behalf of the entire staff at the Mounds View Police Department, I welcome you to our department web site. The mission of the Mounds View Police Department is to maintain a safe city by working in partnership with the community to prevent and reduce crime, protect life and property, and protect the rights of all through law enforcement, education, and outreach.
I want to assure everyone that we are dedicated to providing quality policing services to all members of the community to reduce crime as well as the fear of crime. All the officers and staff strive toward delivering the best possible customer service. We provide services in the areas of patrol operations, search and apprehension with K9 unit, investigations, crime prevention, school resource, animal control and code enforcement through a community service officer, evidence/records administration and police support.
The Mounds View Police Department consists of 19 officers who hold all levels of educational achievements, including Associates, Bachelors and Masters Degrees. A Police Civil Service Commission of 3 members oversees personnel operations which include: recruiting, testing, and selecting candidates and certifying officers for promotions and appointments. The responsibilities of our police officers include responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, enforcement of traffic laws, investigating criminal activity, effecting arrests as prescribed by law, and many other daily activities which help keep the residents of Mounds View safe. Officers respond to medical emergencies with paramedics from Allina Health, who provide in depth care and transport injured persons to the hospital. The equipment Officers’ carry and use today is current with technological advances in law enforcement, including in-squad cameras, vehicle license plate readers, as well as body worn cameras. The Mounds View Police Department recognizes that our duties go beyond answering 911 calls and seek to be an agency that values both proactive enforcement as well as outreach to the community we serve.
Thank you,
Police Chief Nate Harder
