Economic Development Commission (EDC)

Economic Development Commission (EDC)

The EDC acts as an advisory body to the Economic Development Authority on matters relating to promoting a positive economic climate, encouraging Economic Development and enhancing the tax base of the City. The EDC reviews ways in which the City can expand existing businesses, attract desirable new businesses, redevelopment and rehabilitation opportunities, and revitalize the community. The Commission also focuses on business retention and expansion activities and other appropriate economic development strategies. While most of the EDC's activities are business related occasionally, the EDC review's the City's housing stock, analyzes, and makes recommendations to the EDA regarding mechanisms for the rehabilitation and other housing programs and ideas.

The EDC is comprised of seven members (four residents and three business representatives). The EDC meets the third Thursday of every month at 7:30 am at Mounds View City Hall, unless otherwise noted and each Commissioner serves a three year term. Most meetings last about an hour and can't go longer than one and a half hours. Morning meetings are preferred due to the fact that many of the members are running businesses and need to get back to operating their companies. Traditionally, the EDC breaks for the summer and reconvenes in the fall and holds meetings as-needed. For more information please contact Brian Beeman, Assistant City Administrator.
